about us...

The Sturt State Emergency Service Unit comprises volunteers who provide a rescue service dedicated to protecting lives and property primarily in our local community, but across South Australia and interstate as required.

The Sturt Unit operates with approximately 30 - 35 volunteer members and we encourage both male and female persons over 18 years of age to join us.

Our local Unit Headquarters is located at 20 Ackland Hill Road, Coromandel Valley, where we are co-located with the Coromandel Valley Country Fire Service. We train at these Headquarters every Tuesday night at 7:30PM

The area we are directly responsible for stretches from Blackwood and Bedford Park in the north, to Blewit Springs, Kangarilla and Meadows in the south. From Flagstaff Hill and Aberfoyle Park in the west, to Crafers, Stirling and Mylor in the East. This covers a total area of approximately 320 square kilometres, and is a mix of urban and rural communities with a population of over 300,000 people.

Each year Sturt S.E.S. Unit responds to about 600 taskings, undertaking a wide range of rescue situations.

You can listen to the Unit Manager's radio interview for Volunteer Week and hear more about Sturt Rescue, which gives some great detail about what we do. Thanks to Fresh FM Adelaide
